Seller 101 (Reminders for veterans too)

  1. Confirm the contents of any items you are selling.
    • If there is no comment about contents, it is assumed the item is complete (preferably confirm in the condition notes).
    • Identify any items that may be missing in condition notes.
    • Otherwise, make a statement that the contents are not confirmed and there may be missing items.
  2. You need a valid convention badge for any day you are participating in our events.
    • We check your ID when you are dropping of your items and that you have a valid convention badge for that day.
    • You cannot have someone else drop off your items – you must be present.
    • Gen Con Exception for attendees with GM badges – you will be able to show us your online account to prove your badge registration on Wednesday only.
  3. All items need to have printed tags attached before you will be permitted to join any line to drop off items.
    • Please use painters tape or frog tape to attach tags securely to all items – at a minimum, all corners of the tag should be secured.
    • Scotch tape will damage boxes and should only be considering for use on bagged items or on shrink wrap (but it could damage shrink wrap too).
    • DO NOT PLACE TAGS INSIDE BAGS – tags must be accessible by staff (to write on or stamp) and bar codes should always be clearly displayed.
    • Add additional tape to boxes so that they remain closed (again – preferably painters tape to avoid damaging the box)
    • Smaller items should be secured in larger packaging (example – use a comic bag and board for dice sets or smaller items)
  4. If you sign the Waiver for faster item processing, you are agreeing to the following:
    • You shall advise us of any known items that were pre-registered but are not being dropped off.
    • You recognize that we are not scanning each item individually.
    • Should an item appear to be missing at the end of the auction, not being recorded as sold and not being among the items returned to the seller, the auction will be held harmless against the loss, since we cannot verify that the item was turned over to us.
    • You are trusting the auction to do everything it can to prevent items from being misplaced.
  5. Partial payouts (Gen Con) will begin at 2pm on Thursday (if any of your items are sold at that time).
    • Tag refunds ($1 credit for items sold) will not be applied to any partial payout – only at the final payout.
    • You will need a valid convention badge and show ID to collect any partial payout.
  6. You must be present for the Final Payout and Item pick-up.
    • You will need a valid convention badge and show ID to collect any partial payout.
    • If you are not able to be present, your check will be mailed (within 30 days) and any items abandoned will be the property of Big Mallet Auctions.
    • Please consider using the ‘donate to charity’ option in this situation – we could include such unsold items in our charity auction on Saturday evening.

Back from Origins – A note to All Sellers

We will be posting the data from Origins as soon as possible. There was about a 10% increase in item registration and increased sales over last year.

One note to all sellers – please double check the contents of your games and list any items that may be missing.

Buyers should not be experiencing any doubts when purchasing an item. If there is no note on contents, it is assumed the game is complete. Please be sure to include a note to either:

  1. Confirm the game’s contents are complete
  2. Identify any items that may be missing
  3. Make a statement that the contents are not confirmed and there may be missing items.

Gen Con registration is ongoing – see you all in Indianapolis!
